As we approach Xmas and the season of gifts, I’m reminded of a comment made by a man I spoke recently. He talked about self-worth “as the most valuable gift I have ever discovered: more precious than anything I could ever be given”.

Remember the days following 9/11? The “tornado effect” – cancelled flights, meetings, and total paralysis of investment. Back then, my entire pipeline evaporated in less than 7 days.
Whenever I own up to feelings of social anxiety (for example about networking or cocktail parties), I can see that people don’t really believe me. On the surface, they probably see a facade of confidence, or hear some Irish humour, from which they conclude I’m somehow in my natural habitat in these environments.
